SNN Special Report: Michigan Rep Discusses Bill to Save DOB

By Jennifer Gladstone

The Michigan State House passed a bill that will prevent dates of birth from being redacted on criminal records. The Professional Background Screener’s Association has been fighting against the redactions, which were ordered by the state’s Supreme Court.

State Representative Graham Filler spoke with EBI’s Jennifer Gladstone earlier this week about why he sponsored this bill, and how he hopes it will help Michigan employers.

The bill now goes to the state Senate, but there is concern that Governor Gretchen Whitmer plans a veto.

If you live or hire in Michigan, now is the time to reach out to lawmakers and make your opinion on the issue heard.
