NASA Bans CBD Use
Now that we are planning to send humans back to the moon, the workload at NASA is ramping up. Crews are reportedly working around the clock to get the new mega-rocket ready for testing. Even though the stress levels might be soaring, NASA recently sent out a memo to all employees that cannabis-infused products are not the answer and could even cost them their jobs. The memo said that while CBD is touted as a cure for pain and anxiety without the high associated with marijuana, these products are still off limits because their production is so unregulated. There is no way to be sure what these infused products actually contain. Some even have enough THC to make the user fail a drug test. The Navy and Coast Guard have also banned members from using any CBD or hemp products, even if they live in states where they are now legal.
Panel Wants All Adults Screened for Drug Use
Should doctors screen every patient for illicit drug use? The United States Preventive Services Task Force says they should. The panel was appointed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to try to figure out how to fight substance abuse -especially in regard to fentanyl, heroin, opioids and other prescription painkillers. A federal survey found that 1 in every 10 Americans is using illegal drugs – or using their prescriptions differently than their doctors intended. The panel says this is the worst public health crisis in a generation.
Background Check Sinks College Coach
A background check might have cost a college football coach a primo job. A string of text messages was recently released in which former Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith told his boss that Alabama legend Nick Saban had offered him a job. Saban, however, says that is not quite how it went. The head of the Crimson Tide said he did interview Smith, but after seeing the results of his background check, he and his team decided to offer the job to someone else. Smith’s history included domestic violence allegations and two felony arrests that were never prosecuted.
