Free Annual Credit Reports

The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) amended the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) in 2003 and entitles a consumer a free copy of their credit report from the three national credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) once every twelve month period. is the authorized source for these annual credit reports, and you can request your free report online at, by calling them at (1) 877-322-8228, or by downloading and submitting the Annual Credit Report Request form and mailing it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281. 

Free Annual Consumer File Disclosures
In accordance with the Free Annual File Disclosure Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 610), you may request a free annual file disclosure from EBI if we have conducted a background check on you.

Please understand that EBI does not maintain a universal database of consumer credit reports, and we only provide individual consumer reports at the request of our client(s) after your authorization has been obtained. If you have not previously submitted an application to our client and authorized a background report, we will not have your individual consumer report on file.

Please be advised that the consumer file we provide to you was provided at the time of your application and may not depict the most current information.

Please note that all copies of these reports will be delivered by mail only. To preserve the confidentiality of your personal information, a copy of your current driver license or recent utility bill must be provided in order for EBI to send correspondence to an alternate or new address. 

Consumer Disputes
If you wish to dispute the accuracy of any information in the background report that EBI has provided, EBI will conduct a reasonable and free of charge reinvestigation upon request. In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), we will review all of the relevant information you have provided and reinvestigate the disputed item(s). Upon completion of our investigation we will mail you a written summary of the results.

"Red Flags Rule" Identity Theft Prevention Program

Effective January 1, 2011, Employment Background Investigations, Inc. (EBI) complies with the “Red Flags Rule” in the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act of 2003. The Red Flags Rule requires many businesses and organizations to implement a written Identity Theft Prevention Program designed to detect the warning signs — or "red flags" — of identity theft in their day-to-day operations.

The “Red Flags Rule” applies to "financial institutions" and "creditors," and it is our understanding that consumer reporting agencies (CRA) such as EBI are considered “creditors” if they regularly participate in the decision to extend, renew, or continue credit to other businesses for services rendered. Generally, most businesses and organizations that provide products and services to their customers and then bill them later are covered by the “Red Flags Rule.

EBI has conducted an internal evaluation and implemented a formal written policy to detect the warning signs – or “red flags” – of identity theft. This Identity Theft Prevention Program has been approved by the EBI Board of Directors and consists of four primary components:

  • Policies and procedures to identify patterns or activities that commonly indicate identity theft including suspicious documents, inconsistent identifying information, and abnormal account activity

  • Stringent on-site inspection due diligence, client on-boarding, and auditing procedures designed to detect signs of fraud pertaining to both new and existing accounts

  • EBI staff has been supplied with a listing of appropriate actions to take when a red flag may have been detected including internal investigation, changing user passwords, suspending or closing the account, or contacting law enforcement

  • An annual assessment will be completed by the Regulatory & Compliance department at the end of each calendar year

This annual assessment will consider previous identity theft incidents, emerging identity theft threats, new legislative provisions, and evolving business requirements. This report will be presented to the EBI Board of the Directors for review, and EBI’s Identity Theft Prevention Program will be updated and redistributed accordingly.
