We refuse to expose your candidates to the potential of identity theft just to save a few dollars. Our commitment to providing superior security and service is unwavering. The EBI Integrity Advantage is our pledge that we will never off-shore confidential information, we will not provide unconfirmed electronic data and we will not utilize home-based workers.
Our commitment to providing superior processes, protocols, data security, and service above industry standards and beyond client expectations is unwavering.
EBI’s values and dedication to best practices and high standards are communicated clearly through our accreditation, data security certifications, and our strict policies on confidentiality and accurate record retrieval.
EBI is one of only a small percentage of background screening firms in the world to have earned the distinguished seal of Accreditation through the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). To become accredited, EBI passed a rigorous on-site audit of our policies, procedures and best practices.
All of our staff members are carefully selected, screened and trained in proper information handling. Our operation center and information technology systems are secured beyond industry standards and we have an ongoing commitment to compliance.
Simply put, accreditation means that data security, uncompromised ethics, unparalleled client service and customer education are at the heart of everything we do. Partnering with EBI will take your background screening program to the highest level in our industry.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops and publishes international standards for nearly every product on the market. These ISO Standards vary from industry to industry, but companies that ascribe to them ensure their products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality. Obtaining an ISO Certification is not an easy process. It requires much time, effort and commitment. Once independent auditors approve, a company can proudly display the ISO logo. For EBI, we utilize ISO Standards as a strategic tool to assess risks, reduce costs to minimize errors, increase productivity, and analyze goals and objectives on a continual basis. Our ISO Standards provide a roadmap to foster the mutual business success we share with each and every client we serve.
Information systems and networks are an integral part of EBI’s business. We handle Personal Identifiable Information (PII) for thousands of applicants every day. It is critically important to keep all of this information secure. We do everything in our power to protect the data within our care, and that includes going through the rigorous process of becoming ISO 27001:2013 Certified. We maintain an Information Security Management System (ISMS) in accordance with the ISO 27001 Standard. Our system is designed to protect the confidentiality, availability and integrity of information. It also helps reduce the potential impact of security incidents. Our ISO 27001 Certification exemplifies EBI’s commitment to information security and underscores our long-standing commitment to the protection of confidential information in our care.
Our “client for life philosophy” is backed by a comprehensive Quality Management System which is our commitment to providing the highest quality of service while delivering unparalleled customer satisfaction to our clients. We achieve this by implementing and supporting a quality management system in accordance with the ISO 9001 Standard that is embraced by our entire staff and our partners. EBI’s Executive Team is engaged in setting a quality policy, defining documented procedures to improve the consistency of business functions, and measuring outputs that align with established Goals and Objectives. We focus on timeliness, accuracy and compliance as a benchmark for quality and measure these objectives against planned results. We consistently monitor internal performance and your overall satisfaction as a benchmark for our mutual success. EBI’s ISO 9001 Certification demonstrates our entire organization’s passion for service quality while embracing continual improvement in everything we do.
EBI is the first NAPBS-accredited background screening company to hold both an ISO 27001:2013 certification for Information Security and an ISO 9001:2015 certification for Quality Management.
Protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is essential to what we do at EBI. For that reason, we adhere to the seven principles laid out in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. The goal of Privacy Shield is to provide companies on both sides of the Atlantic with a plan to comply with the strict EU data protection requirements for transferring personal data.
There are seven Privacy Shield Principles that a company must comply with in order to be certified. They are:
While these are similar to the principles of the Safe Harbor Agreement that Privacy Shield replaced, the new Framework also includes 16 more detailed Supplemental Principles that must be followed. You can read the entire list here.
By self-certifying we show our commitment to the Privacy Shield Framework and the intent behind it. This commitment makes EBI part of an elite global data protection alliance whose only goal is to protect the integrity of all personal data in our care.
U.S. - Swiss Privacy Shield Framework
EBI is also certified under the U.S. – Swiss Privacy Shield Framework. This framework was designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Swiss Administration to enhance the protection of data being transferred between the two countries. This agreement replaces the previous U.S. – Swiss Safe Harbor Framework, and will help companies comply with Swiss data protection requirements when transferring personal data from Switzerland. The framework protects the privacy, accuracy and security of Swiss citizen’s personally identifiable information (PII) throughout the process of collection, transfer and use by American companies.
EBI is a proud member of Concerned CRAs. We are committed to the future of the employment background screening industry, as we believe that certain data practices employed by some firms that operate in our industry place our profession, clients, and their applicants at risk.
Due to the lack of controls as well as environmental, political, economic, and social risks associated with off-shoring consumer information, EBI does not store or send Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data outside the U.S. for processing, customer service, verification products, or the preparation of a domestic background report.
