This past Sunday, October 23, 2011, the staff of Employment Background Investigations, Inc (EBI) joined thousands of other participants to support the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure®. The new Komen Maryland ad campaign asked the public who or what they were "Racing For.", and Team EBI had a very special answer for that question. In August, a long-time employee of EBI passed away from Breast Cancer, so we joined this year’s race in memory of Heather Garner, a beloved co-worker and friend.
This year marked the fifth year that the EBI staff has participated in the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure® and represented our most successful year of fundraising for this event. Team EBI had 42 registered members, made up of employees, friends and family, and we were honored to be joined by Heather’s husband and two young children who walked with the EBI team. Team EBI raised over $3,500 and we are still able to accept donations through our Komen Maryland Team Page. We thank everyone for their generous donations and support of this special cause.
Through EBI’s Just One World philanthropic initiatives, we find ways to support causes important to our clients, employees, and business partners. We focus on causes that are not only close to our heart but that also give back to our immediate community. Of the money raised at the Race for the Cure each year, up to 75% stays in Maryland to fund local programs for women and families.
