North Carolina Changes Retrieval Access To Criminal Records

Share

The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC) has officially discontinued its daily criminal records data extract as of March 10, 2011. Going forward, and in replacement of the daily extract, complete criminal record case information must be accessed via the state’s Remote Public Access System.

NCAOC’s decision means that:

  • Complete criminal case information (charge, level of offense, plea, disposition and sentencing) must be manually retrieved via the Remote Public Access System
  • State-imposed access fees will now be incurred to obtain the complete criminal case information

Effective immediately, the state access fee for county criminal searches will be $3, and the state access fee for statewide criminal searches will be $7. Please also be advised that some criminal search results may be delayed due to new process associated with the retrieval of this information.
