Navigating state resources for compliant employment background screening is fundamental in EBI’s presentation
Employment Background Investigations, Inc. (EBI) Chief Knowledge Officer, Robert Capwell, will present a session at the 2010 Wisconsin State SHRM Conference in Appleton, Wisconsin on Friday, October 8 at 8:30am entitled “Critical Background Screening Resources – Best Practices and Compliance Mandates for HR Professionals in Wisconsin.”
Capwell’s presentation reviews current state record repositories within Wisconsin’s seventy-two counties, and offers employer best practices on use of that information for employment background checks within state mandates. Additional topics include FCRA, education fraud and impact of diploma mills, and use of social media for screening.
“As it pertains to employment screening, it is essential for employers to understand how records are stored and accessed within a specific state, and be knowledgeable on current state mandates around the use of that data since no states have identical structures,” states Richard Kurland, EBI’s President and CEO. “Employer education on federal and state legislation, as well as compliance regulations, will continue to be a priority for our company.”
