Sex Offender Records

A search for currently registered sex offenders is available in a single state or available through a multi-state search.

What does this service provide?

Under the legislation of Megan’s Law, sexual offenders must register when they move or change their residence.  There are currently hundreds of thousands of registered sex offenders nationwide.  EBI’s single-state search is conducted by accessing real-time information at the appropriate state agency.  Our multi-state database is a collection of stored data from multiple state registries.  Any information found will be re-verified at the appropriate source.

In addition, EBI also provides a 50-state sex offender database search within our National Criminal Background Check (NCRD) service.

 Did You Know?

Each state has a different policy and procedure when it comes to maintaining sexual offender databases.  States can vary in terms of the information provided and the frequency of updates.  The fact that a name is NOT in the database does not mean a person is "clear."  Conversely, just because a name is a match does not mean that the applicant/employee being searched is the same person listed in the database.  A database search should be utilized as a tool and not a deciding factor to make a hiring decision.  Any information obtained from a database search should be verified at the source by verifying complete name, date of birth and other identifiers when possible.  EBI provides this service with both of our sex offender registry searches.
