Introducing NCRD-ci, EBI's
    National Criminal Record Database.

When it comes to a national search, EBI's NCRD-ci is the next best thing to the FBI's proprietary database check (called the NCIC – National Crime Information Center). Since public access to NCIC information is prohibited, NCRD-ci was created to give our clients the ability to conduct efficient and cost-effective multi-jurisdictional background checks – redefining the "best available means" for protecting your firm from negligent hiring.

NCRD-ci is a powerful, fast, multi-jurisdictional search of state and county criminal records databases. It currently includes over 140 million offense records from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia.

NCRD-ci searches departments of correction, state court administrations, state law enforcement agencies, traffic courts, state and county criminal record repositories, prison parole and release files, probation records and records from other state agencies. Plus, with every NCRD-ci request, EBI gives you access to the most comprehensive sex offenders database ever compiled. EBI's multi-state sex offender database searches registered sex offenders with felony conviction records. Thirty-three participating states have joined to produce this all encompassing, powerful Sex Offenders Registry Search.

NCRD-ci doesn't stop there! With every NCRD-ci request, EBI searches Foreign Nationals Sanctions, which identify whose property may be blocked, and with whom no U.S. person may have dealings.

And there is more… Free with every search is EBI's National Proprietary Offender Database. This proprietary offender database compiled by EBI contains data from various data sources including convictions and arrest records previously pulled by EBI. This dataset contains more than two million records on all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

NCRD-ci is FCRA-compliant. Every criminal record found by the NCRD-ci database is manually searched. This makes it possible for EBI to ensure that whenever a report is generated which contains public record information likely to have an adverse effect on a consumer's ability to obtain employment, that report is current and complete.

It is critical to understand that searches performed utilizing the National Criminal Record Database, NCRD and NCRD-ci is a research tool only, and under no circumstances does EBI recommend this search as a substitute for a hands-on search at the county level. In addition not all states have a database that is available to employers. Databases in each state are compiled from a number of various sources. There are a number of reasons that database information may not be accurate or complete. Because of the nature of databases, the appearance of a person's name on a database is not an indication the person is criminal any more then the absence of a name shows they are not a criminal. Any positive match MUST be verified by reviewing the actual court records. Any lack of a match is not the same as a person being "cleared." However, a database is a valuable tool in helping employers cover a wider area and know where to search for more information.
