About these articles

Pre-Employment Background Screening

If we haven't yet convinced managers and business owners of the importance of background screening for potential employees, the article released by Occupational Hazards ought to do the job. After reviewing the financial trends associated with businesses who don't pursue pre-employment background screening, Occupational Hazards concludes that these businesses are at a much greater risk for employee injury and economic liability.

Pre-employment Screening

As more and more employers are found liable for violent acts of employees both within and outside their scope of employment, pre-employment background screening emerges as the best way to limit negligent hiring lawsuits, and to protect other employees, clients, and the workplace in general.

Workplace Drug Abuse

In his recent article at Salem-News.com, police detective Paul Henninger makes a disturbing connection between drug abuse in the workplace and identity theft. Henninger has found that "over 90%" of the persons he arrests for fraud or identity theft are involved with methamphetamine, and he believes this statement to be true on a national level.

Hair Follicle Drug Test

Many employers don't implement drug testing in the workplace because they feel that common drug screening procedures, particularly the urine drug test, are both invasive and demeaning for employees. And, with the many products out there designed to help drug users to "fool" the urine drug test, it just isn't the most reliable way to implement drug testing in the workplace anymore.

As a result, the hair follicle drug test is quickly becoming the favorite of Fortune 500 companies, schools, and even casinos.

Criminal Background Checks

During a softball game in 1994, an umpire asked a 19-year old female scorekeeper to lunch and a seemingly innocent outing to a local Burger King turned deadly before anyone even suspected foul play. Convicted killer and Georgia prison inmate Colvin Hinton admitted for the first time to ABC News that he murdered college student Shannon Melendi whom he met at work.
