At EBI, industry education on ever-changing regulatory and compliance laws is a primary goal. EBI’s Regulatory and Compliance Department analyzes current federal, state, local and international legislation in the areas of Background Screening, Drug Testing, Occupational Healthcare and E-Verify compliance on an ongoing basis. EBI communicates these regulatory updates through The Source, a monthly e-newsletter, and periodic Legislative Alerts. EBI also provides our clients with necessary notifications and forms to comply with mandated screening requirements.
EBI relies on a close alliance with legal counsel at Seyfarth Shaw LLP for compliance information. Seyfarth Shaw is a distinguished employment law and litigation firm that specializes in the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and state laws effecting background screening. EBI recommends as a best practice that a company’s screening policies by reviewed by legal counsel at least once a year.
EBI is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of personal information in the global marketplace. EBI has established a data privacy policy which complies with the seven Safe Harbor principles administered by the United States Department of Commerce, prohibiting the transfer of personal data to non-European Union nations that do not meet the European standard for privacy protection, in accordance with the European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection that went into effect in 1998. |
