EBI's Philanthropic Commitment Through "JUST ONE WORLD"
“Our goal, in partnership with our staff, clients, and business partners is to make a significant impact on our community and assist with environmental projects to preserve our natural resources."
EBI recognizes that companies have a profound impact on the communities in which they operate. To ensure that our impact is a positive one, EBI established Just One World, a philanthropic extension of our brand, dedicated to serving our community and environment through volunteerism and endowment. To these ends, EBI employees participate in several events throughout the year to benefit charitable organizations and causes that are important to our staff and community.
While EBI frequently participates in fundraising events, we also understand the value of hands on experience. We are very proud to not only show our support through monetary donations, but through our face-to-face interactions and hard work as well. During the past several years, EBI has exceeded all previous company records for participation and fund raising efforts towards our “Just One World” initiatives and we are just getting warmed up!
EBI is a proud supporter of the following charitable causes!
EBI has been a part of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) annual walk for several years now and this year was no different as we once again joined the ‘Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes’ in October 2011. In April 2005, EBI began providing background screening services to over 100 youth camps across the country at a generous discount. We are proud to be a sponsor and a partner of the ADA.
EBI has been a continuing supporter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s fight against Breast Cancer. The 2011 Race for the Cure hit close to home for the EBI team, as we lost a long-time employee and friend to breast cancer this past August. The EBI team dedicated our efforts towards this year’s race in Heather Garner’s memory. Heather was a dedicated and compassionate employee who will be missed by EBI employees and clients, and her courageous fight against breast cancer is an inspiration to us all.
EBI's Adopt-A-Family is truly a company event that rings of awesome holiday spirit. Each year, around the holidays, EBI staff donates funds, food and gifts to local Baltimore families so that the less fortunate around us can have a joyous holiday season also. In 2011, we personalized this project by supporting “one of our own” families. We collected gifts for Heather Garner’s husband and children to try and make this holiday after Heather’s passing a little more special.
For the past four years during the Holiday season, EBI staff members have presented our soldiers overseas with some "Seasons Greetings" and "Good Cheer" by them sending holiday greeting cards. In 2011, we personalized the project by also sending cards to the units stationed overseas who are friends/ family of our fellow EBIers.
In 2011 we expanded our holiday drive to include items NESAP needed to support their Food Pantry and Holiday Help Program. We supported NESAP at the holidays by donating gift items and requested food, household and personal products that will be distributed to local residents in need of assistance.
EBI collected over 100 pounds of food for the Maryland Food Bank. This food was donated and distributed to hungry families around the holidays.
As a Bowl-A-Thon supporter, EBI’s staff positively impacted the lives of local Pittsburgh and Baltimore children. Our donations supported all children who participated in various Junior Achievement programs. Some of us even managed to bowl a few strikes!
EBI donated to the Casey Cares Foundation to try and help make the lives of critically ill children and their families a little more enjoyable and comfortable.
EBI indeed took the plunge when in 2008, we sponsored an employee who was literally taking the plunge! The funds that we raised through this event were essential in helping Special Olympics Maryland continue to provide the benefits of its programs to all of Maryland’s citizens with intellectual disabilities.
EBI conducted our first client satisfaction survey in April 2008 and it was a huge success! As a thank you to our clients for completing the survey, for each completed survey a donation was made to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The American Diabetes Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Nature Conservancy or The Humane Society.
EBI staff members got into the holiday spirit by collecting donations for The Salvation Army by manning the “Red Kettles” in our area. EBI employees engaged in friendly competition when they teamed up in pairs and competed to see who could collect the most money during their shifts.
EBI participated in the 2007 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. We were proud to be able to do our part to help prevent cancer and save lives. The Relay really does bring communities and corporations together and allows everyone the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.
