Richard Kurland
President and CEO
Mr. Richard A. Kurland has built his 25 year career with a deep sense of commitment and an innovative spirit.  Employment Background Investigations, Inc. (EBI) was created in 1994 shortly after Mr. Kurland viewed and empathized with a national media story line pertaining to nursing home abuse.  Today, EBI does business in more than 200 countries worldwide with nearly 5,000 clients, and is ranked among the top 20 employment screening companies in North America.  Mr. Kurland’s focus on employee empowerment and strategic technology implementation has continued to push the boundaries of industry standards for client service and web-based human resources management tools.  

Over the years, Mr. Kurland has continuously infused innovation and energy into the core of EBI’s background screening business solutions.  Mr. Kurland’s development of unique suites of Drug Testing and Occupational Healthcare solutions, along with strategic integrations of Applicant Tracking and other HR essential tools has contributed to fulfilling his vision of a “Just One Solution” designed essentially for HR and Risk Mitigation professionals.  Mr. Kurland is a Licensed Private Detective in the State of Maryland and is proud to be a founding member of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS.) Community and family are important to Mr. Kurland.  He established “EBI One World,” a community outreach program in Baltimore and Pittsburgh. 


Robert Capwell 
Chief Knowledge Officer
Mr. Robert Capwell has been in the background screening industry for over seventeen years and is past chair and current board member of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS).  He has been very active in government policies affecting our industry and in movement towards greater international communication on screening protocol.  Mr. Capwell is currently Co-Chair of the International Committee of NAPBS, which provides a forum for networking and creating best practices and standards across the international screening arena.  Mr. Capwell has been published and been quoted in various publications and currently authors a monthly column on background screening for The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) online.  

Mr. Capwell has also made presentations to various government agencies and members of Congress on behalf of the background screening industry, which included The Federal Trade Commission and The Department of Transportation’s Sub-Committee on Aviation.  Mr. Capwell has also testified to Pennsylvania Court Administrators and Senate Judiciary Committee staff regarding consumer privacy and data breach legislation.  Mr. Capwell was the founder and President of Comprehensive Information Services, Inc. (CIS) a Pittsburgh, PA based employment screening company.  EBI acquired CIS in February 2007.  


Lori Reinhardt 
Chief Business Development Officer
Ms. Lori Reinhardt is an expert in the drug testing and occupational healthcare arena with over 20 years of industry experience building and directing customer-driven organizations.  Prior to joining EBI in December 2006, she was Vice President and Sales Director for Quest Diagnostics, Inc. formerly LabOne, Inc. Ms. Reinhardt has a successful background in establishing new business growth, organizational restructuring and operating efficiency.  Ms. Reinhardt is a key member of the Executive Team, and in her role she is responsible for spearheading business development initiatives and providing strategic vision for EBI.  Additionally, Ms. Reinhardt provides leadership and direction to a team of National Account Executives located throughout the United States.  Ms. Reinhardt is a member of DATIA, SAPAA and NAPBS.  From her knowledge and experience in the DOT arena, she has been asked to speak at many engagements to discuss her experience both with the regulations and in managing sales organizations.


Paul Renda 
Chief Financial Officer, CPA
Mr. Paul Renda has over twenty-one years of experience as a CPA.  Mr. Renda served as Accounting and Consulting Manager for American Express Tax and Business Services for six years and was Director of Finance and Accounting for Ann’s House of Nuts, Inc. for five years.  He has been a Director of Employment Background Investigations since 2006.  Mr. Renda is a Member of AICPA (The American Institute of Public Accountants and of MACPA (Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants).


Pauline Revei
Chief Operations Officer for Background Screening
Ms. Pauline Revei oversees all operational aspects of EBI’s Background Screening Departments.  Ms. Revei is also part of EBI’s Initial Implementation Team.  Ms. Revei manages EBI’s Processing, Verifications, Public Records, Quality Assurance, Adjudication and Internal Training Departments.  Since 1999, Ms. Revei has been instrumental in the development and enhancement of all of EBI’s technological systems, work flow processes and department efficiencies.  She works closely with the development of management throughout the organization.  Prior to working with
